Rowan was born in South Africa into a golfing family. His Father and Grandfather were both golf professionals. He had a golf club in his hands from the tender age of four.  Growing up, golf was not his only sporting interest. He played cricket, rugby, tennis, and athletics. After studying Rowan decided to focus on golf and turned professional and completed his PGA training. 

Austria has been his home for over 25 years. He has been based at KGC Dellach for the past 17 years. 

He has coached the KGC Dellach Teams to numerous Austrian Team Championship titles.  His juniors have also won individual  Austrian National titles. He has helped develop young promising Austrian Amateurs. Two of which have managed to get onto the European Tour.
